Privacy policy
Last updated: [date of publication]
Kiptic keeps your receipts on your phone. You can use it without an account. This policy explains what the app accesses, what stays on your phone, and the little that leaves it.
Who we are. Kiptic is published by [account holder's legal name], [postal address]. Contact: [email protected]. EU representative: [name and address]. UK representative: [name and address].
What stays on your phone
- Receipt photos and details. Photos you scan or import, the text read from them, and the purchases you save are stored only in the app's storage on your phone.
- Reading receipts. Text recognition and reading the details run entirely on your phone. Your receipts are never sent to an AI service or to us.
- Reminders and search. Warranty reminders are scheduled on your phone; search runs on your phone.
We do not use your receipts to train or improve any model.
The receipt reader
Kiptic reads receipts with a model that runs on your phone. In the App Store version it comes with the app. If it needs to be downloaded (for example after an interrupted install), the app fetches it from our file host, Hugging Face (huggingface.co). Nothing about you or your receipts is sent; like any download, Hugging Face receives standard request information such as your IP address.
Optional account
You only need an account for Kiptic Pro (including encrypted backup). You can sign in with Apple, Google or your email address.
- What we store: your email address (with Sign in with Apple, this can be a private relay address), your name if your sign-in provider shares it, and an identifier for your account.
- Why: to provide Kiptic Pro, backup and restore. The legal basis is the contract with you for that service.
- Where: our account and backup provider, Supabase, stores it.
Encrypted backup (optional, off by default)
If you turn it on:
- Your receipts and photos are encrypted on your phone before they are uploaded.
- The key that unlocks them never leaves your devices: it is kept in your iCloud Keychain (iPhone) or your Google account (Android), and you get a recovery code to move between iPhone and Android. We cannot read your backup.
- If you lose both your Apple or Google account and your recovery code, your backup cannot be recovered, by you or by us.
You can turn backup off at any time. Profile → Delete account and backup permanently deletes your backup and your account, and disconnects your Apple or Google sign-in.
Purchases
Kiptic Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card details. To manage your subscription we use RevenueCat, which receives your account identifier (not your email) and your purchase and subscription status, never your receipts. Buying Pro needs an account, so it follows you to a new phone.
Permissions
- Camera: to scan receipts.
- Photos: only when you choose photos to import.
- Notifications: to remind you before a warranty ends. Reminders are scheduled on your phone.
What we do not do
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of your data.

| Cloudflare | Emails you send us | Forwarding support emails to our inbox |

Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area and the UK; where they do, they use safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep data
Your account and backup are kept until you delete them. Data on your phone stays until you delete it or the app.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, and to restrict or object to its processing. Most of this you can do in the app: Settings → Download my data saves your account details and every purchase in one file, and you can edit or delete purchases and delete your account. For anything else, contact [email protected]. You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as Ireland's Data Protection Commission or the UK's Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
Kiptic is not directed at children under 16.
Changes
We will update this page and its date when this policy changes, and tell you in the app about significant changes.
