Terms of use

Last updated: 9 October 2026

These terms cover the Kiptic app and Kiptic Pro. By using Kiptic you agree to them. They don't take away any rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.

Who we are. Kiptic is published by Jyosan Labs, Ireland. Contact: [email protected].

Who can use Kiptic

You must be at least 16 to use Kiptic, or have a parent's or guardian's permission where the law allows it.

What Kiptic does

Kiptic keeps your receipts and the purchases on them, works out return and warranty dates, reminds you before they end, and lets you search what you bought. Receipts are read and kept on your phone.

Kiptic is a tool to keep your records. It isn't legal or financial advice, and it doesn't act for you with stores or manufacturers.

Check what matters

Kiptic reads receipts automatically, and it can get things wrong: a store name, a total, a date, or a return or warranty period, especially on faded or crumpled receipts. Check the dates you rely on, and correct them in the app. Return and warranty periods come from what is printed on the receipt or what you enter; the store's own policy and the law decide what actually applies.

Receipts as proof of purchase

A clear photo of a receipt is widely accepted as proof of purchase, but whether a particular store or manufacturer accepts it is up to them and to the law where you bought the item. Each store decides what it accepts: some accept only the original till receipt, others also a bank or card statement, and some may not accept a photo or a copy kept in Kiptic at all. We don't promise that any store will accept the receipt, photo or PDF that Kiptic keeps. Keep the paper receipt, and check the store's own policy, when you may need it.

Reminders

Kiptic schedules reminders on your phone. They depend on your phone's settings, its storage and the app staying installed, so a reminder can be late or not appear. Don't rely on a reminder alone for a deadline that matters.

Your account

You don't need an account to use Kiptic. You need one for Kiptic Pro. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you're responsible for what happens with your account. One account is for one person.

We may suspend or close an account that is used to break the law, to harm others, or to attack or overload the service, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.

Kiptic Pro

Kiptic Pro is a subscription (or a one-time purchase, where offered) that adds an encrypted backup of your purchases and restores them on another phone. The price and period are shown before you buy.

Kiptic Pro Family and households

Kiptic Pro Family includes everything in Kiptic Pro and lets you create a household of up to five people, including you. Only the person who creates the household needs Pro Family; the others join free with an invite.

Your backup and recovery code

Your backup is encrypted on your phone before it is uploaded, and only your devices hold the key. We cannot read it or reset it. If you lose both access to your Apple or Google account and your recovery code, your backup can't be recovered, by you or by us. Keep your recovery code somewhere safe.

Your content

Your receipts, photos and notes are yours. You give us only the permission needed to store and back up your encrypted backup when you turn it on. We don't use your receipts for anything else; see the privacy policy at https://kiptic.jyosanlabs.com/privacy/.

Your licence to use Kiptic

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Kiptic on devices you own or control, for your own use, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from. You may not copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows it.

Kiptic, its name, logo, design and software belong to the publisher or its licensors. The open-source software inside Kiptic is used under its own licences, listed in Settings → Licences.

Other services

Kiptic relies on services with their own terms: Apple and Google for sign-in, payments and app distribution, and our providers for accounts, backup and subscriptions (listed in the privacy policy). Their terms apply to your use of those services.

Acceptable use

Don't use Kiptic to break the law, to store content you have no right to, or to try to access other people's data, reverse-engineer the service's servers, or disrupt it.

Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Kiptic without owing you anything for them.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Kiptic running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, and we may change or stop features. If we stop Kiptic Pro, we will tell you in advance and refund any period you've paid for and can no longer use.

We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and tell you in the app about significant changes before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using Kiptic and delete your account.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer, including your right to a service that works as described.

Within those limits: we aren't liable for losses caused by a deadline being missed, a receipt being misread, a reminder not appearing, or a store or manufacturer refusing a claim, because Kiptic is a tool you check and you stay in charge of your claims. We aren't liable for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen.

We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages of the networks, stores or providers Kiptic depends on.

Ending

You can stop using Kiptic and delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete account and backup. This deletes your account and backup; purchases on your phone stay until you delete them or the app.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Ireland. If you live in another country, you keep the protection of its mandatory consumer law, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live. Before that, please contact us at [email protected]; most problems are quickly fixed.

App Store terms

If you got Kiptic from Apple's App Store, these points also apply:

General

If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Kiptic. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over Kiptic; it won't reduce your rights. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
